392 (who?)

The Unwanted Dove

My transformation could not be stopped
A weakened heart is to blame

Remnants of tears are left
I will never be the same again

So tired of everything / These memories of suffering
This is my dark reincarnation / Oh thou have forsaken

I am not your messenger anymore
I'm blind from keeping faith

I no longer recognize a savior
There's no more numbing the pain away
Lock me up
Destroy the key

I'm not strong enough
To ever be free

So please clip my wings tonight / Never again will I take flight
Allow me to be useless / I yearn to be powerless

It won't be wrong
To take another shot at me

I am done
So cage away this false symbol of peace
My metamorphosis conquered my will
A fate I cannot defy

I don't know if I feel any guilt
For my light's demise

It's not what I deserve / It crushed my dreams
This is what I get in return / From really trying to believe

In the wake of these shadows
I am left haunted

I am the corruption called sorrow
I have become the unwanted
I step into a realm of grief
I fall away from grace

I cast aside peace
I hone my pain

I have to say this is a very in depth poem. It captures the reader to keep reading on, to really get to the end. It shows how light can go to darkness, how unwanted darkness truly is. It truly makes the reader think of what this poem means, try to figure out the meaning for themselves. To me it is how easy hope and light, faith and love can be turned to darkness. Obsession and pain, and just tears of sorrow. The rhyme scheme threw me off a little bit. Sometimes it would rhyme sometimes not, but all in all a very deep and well written poem. Very good job, keep up the amazing work. :)

Wow the photo of the dove was on your side. First of all, this speaks from outside and in.... I gleaned a vision of a person who is dark, who may also look ominous. The fact that the speaker asks for the wings to be clipped shows the personal loathing we can feel when we realize our nature is not what it should be. You have even given a hint to the environment of darkness. The use of free verse is an even better display of deviance. Metamorphosis, corruption, transformation, are all words which invoke the same horror of those around us when they see what we have become. (Your formatting reads like we are listening to the struggle of man vs. self) Your vocabulary for this piece is excellent, and I have to wonder where your inspiration comes from...Keep your dark secret deep poet!
